Good to know

Vintage Surf Hut by Coastline Vacation Rentals Step inside and feel time slow down. This isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a unique retro surf shack with mid-century charm, funky details, and a laid-back vibe that makes you want to toss your flip-flops in the corner and settle right in. Once the home of legendary local surfer Skip Frye, this stay exudes history and charm. Inside, vintage touches mix with comfort — warm wood tones, eclectic décor, and a lived-in, welcoming feel. The cozy living room is perfect for game nights or movie marathons, the kitchen is ready for everything from quick breakfasts to fresh fish tacos, and there’s room for everyone to rest comfortably. The bedroom features a queen bed and a twin bed with trundle, while the futon-style sofa in the living area provides extra sleeping space. Step outside to the front balcony with a peek-a-boo view of the sparkling bay, or gather on the private patio around the fire pit for cozy evenings under the stars. Right across the street, you’ll find a lush park with plenty of grass, a playground with swings, and the local library — perfect for a picnic, kids’ playtime, or just soaking up the neighborhood’s relaxed energy. For your beach days, we’ve got you covered with a wagon, beach chairs, two boogie boards, and beach towels so you can spend more time by the water and less time worrying about what to pack. From here, you’re minutes from all the fun in Pacific Beach — cafés, beach bars, bike rentals, and miles of boardwalk to explore. Whether you’re here for surf, sunshine, or simply a unique and playful home base, this stay delivers personality, history, and comfort in equal measure. Come for the location, stay for the experience, and leave with the kind of memories that feel like summer vacation stories you’ll tell for years.

Other Details to Note

While children and little ones are definitely welcome, please note that the home is quirky and includes several features that may not suit all families — including multiple stairs, a faux fish tank with open water, glass doors, and a drop-off leading into the bathroom area. We recommend reviewing these details and deciding if this listing is the best fit before booking. If you feel it will work for you, we’d be delighted to host your stay! Like many homes by the coast, we do not have air conditioning. We do provide fans in the rooms for your comfort. Feel free to open the windows, let the ocean air flow, and enjoy the unique charm of Pacific Beach

This place has character befitting PB. The location is just far enough from the business of the beachfront to provide calm, but stlll be just a quick walk to either the bay or the ocean. The kitchen and bath were well equipped for a longer stay. The mid-century-modern style was well done, and fit the house. The original architecture in the bedroom evokes a large wave breaking overhead. Other original pieces with stained glass and café door have great character. The newer parts are attractive and more easily maintained.

We had a great stay here! It was decorated so well and in a great location. Walkable to the beach, the bay, and great coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. The street itself is quiet. I want to note that it is across from the library, which attracted some transient folks but they were harmless. Plenty of space in the unit for 2 people & there were extra towels, soaps, etc.

First time in San Diego and oh my—Ariel’s place was the perfect home base! She was super friendly and full of great recommendations, making everything from check-in to exploring the city a breeze. The house had such a cool, happy vibe—think stained glass, vintage wood doors, and cozy outdoor spots. Quiet street, easy parking, and close to everything. I highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting San Diego. Already dreaming about my next stay!
